Castle Rock Lake
Castle Rock Lake is a man-made lake created by the Wisconsin River Power Company in 1947 and completed in 1951. It is Wisconsin’s fourth largest lake and covers 16,640 acres with approximately 60 miles of shoreline. It is known for its sandy shorelines, which makes for great swimming, skiing and leisure boating.
The majority of the shoreline is undeveloped making the lake “less populated”. The lake’s depth varies from 8 to 20 feet in most places, with area in the old river beds reaching as deep as 30 feet. The structure created from river beds makes Castle Rock a very productive and consistent fishing lake. While walleyes, white bass and crappies are the most abundant, many northern pike, large mouth bass, small mouth bass and panfish are taken also.
The shores of Castle Rock Lake are dotted with public launch sites, and visitors can enjoy water skiing, swimming, sailing, and boating on its beautiful blue waters. Spectacular sunsets await along the many miles of wooded shoreline where 25,000 acres remain in their natural state.
Town of Germantown
The Town of Germantown is located on the west side of Castle Rock Lake and is made up of portions of the cities of Necedah, New Lisbon, and Mauston. Woodlands constitute 39% of the Township. Dominant water features in the Township are the Wisconsin River, Castle Rock Lake, and the Yellow and Little Yellow Rivers. Castle Rock Lake and the Wisconsin River serve as the border on the east with Adams County. The main use of this plentiful fresh water are for the enjoyment of anglers, boaters, canoe and kayaking, hunters, and casual observers.
The Community Center, Town Hall, and Germantown Park are located at: N7560 17th Avenue, New Lisbon, Wisconsin 53950 (View location on a map).
